Founded in 2002 by Maurizio Cattelan, Massimiliano Gioni and Ali Subotnick, the Wrong Gallery was the smallest gallery in New York City, consisting of a glass door and 2 ½ square feet of space. Artists were given free reign to do what they wanted to the door and what little space was there. Most of the art was somewhat conceptual and either pranked viewers, or satirized the contemporary art world. Polish artist Pawel Althamer hired people to smash the door on a weekly basis; Andreas Slominski kidnapped the door and took it to a dinner party in Hamburg. It was evicted from its space in the summer of 2005, and then had a stint in the Tate on a temporary basis. In 2006 ArtReview ranked the founders and the gallery as #44 on their list of 100 most influential people in the contemporary art world. Wrong Times was issued yearly in conjunction with the various exhibitions. This issue consists of interviews or conversations with the various artists featured at the gallery in 2003-04, including Isa Genzken, Paola Pivi, Lawrence Weiner, Pawel Althamer, Elizabeth Peyton and many others. GOOD condition. Horizontal fold crease present. Uneven moderate toning to the paper. Minor wrinkling and creasing, with very light soiling. Good .
