Author: Tom of Finland (Laaksonen, Touko) Title: Tom of Finland Foundation Dispatch. Winter 1998
Description: Los Angeles, Tom of Finland Foundation, Publisher, 1998. Wraps. Wraps. Single sheet, folded into 6 8 ½ by 11 inches. Black and white illustrations throughout. A newsletter issued by the Tom of Finland Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in 1984. Originally founded to preserve and promote the erotic art of Tom of Finland, the foundation expanded its mission to include all erotic art, with a focus on homoerotic work. Tom of Finland (Touko Laaksonen) was a Finnish artist who produced highly stylized homoerotic art focusing on gay men. His work often depicted men in uniform, or leather clad bikers, with the images countering the heterosexual stereotypes often associated with such people. While Laaskonen's art has received mixed reviews, it paved the way for many other gay artists. This issue of the newsletter is replete with many examples of male erotic art, some rather explicit in content. This includes examples from contest winners, examples from artists, photos from a convention, updates, including the "up and cummin'" section. VERY GOOD condition. Two horizontal fold creases present. Light toning and edgewear. Very Good .
