Early edition of this popular 17th century Italian novel that was first published in 1635. Written by Luca Assarino, an Italian writer who also wrote a popular account of wars and events in Italy. POOR/FAIR condition. Covers very tenuously attached along the hinges, and presumably will detach with much further handling. Most of the leather missing along the backstrip. Leather mostly detached from the boards beneath. Heavy soiling, scuffing, staining and edgewear to the covers. First endpaper almost detached, while the second front endpaper is completely detached. Text block otherwise intact and solid, with minor scattered soiling and general toning. Rear endpapers stained. Bookplate for a Paris bookseller, Theophile Barrois on the inside front cover. Desperately needs rebinding. Poor .
