An alleged error by a land officer may have led to white settlers moving to the land, but according to this document, a rich timber supply that was being harvested and sold at market was probably the true reason for the trespassing. It appears the Indian Agent for the tribe was threatened with violence when trying to remove the encroachers. GOOD condition. Minor toning. Some wear, chipping and creasing along the spine edge.
