Two short issues of this newspaper, containing several lengthy articles and shorter briefs on the Civil War. This includes a printing of the May 3rd proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln increasing the size of the army and navy; reports from Washington, Missouri and Arkansas; report on General Houston in Texas and his speech; an African-American view of the crisis; an alleged plot to burn Boston, New York and Philadelphia, etc. FAIR/GOOD condition. Heavy chipping, tearing and creasing along the extremities, with minor loss, sometimes affecting text. Heavy browning. Scattered foxing, soiling and staining. Horizontal and fold creases present, as well as other creases. Text hard to read in a few places due to creasing. Fair .
