Ads include several for railroad companies, manufacturers, etc. A general information magazine, with this issue containing articles on Alexander Seton-a Scottish alchemist (with commentary on alchemy); American history-continued from a previous issue, with this issue pertaining to the Civil War; the Great Interior-referring to the Midwest and Western United States; light and sound (physics); a metallurgical zinc patent case; new coal deposits; origin of graphite; weekly prices of stocks in New York and Philadelphia; the 24th annual report of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company; the Reading Railroad and the Pennsylvania Anthracite Coal interests; patents for perpetual motions; beer brewed from rice; durability of rubber treated with carbolic acid, etc. GOOD condition. Minor soiling and a few small stains to the covers. General fading. Owner's name in pencil, with math problems, at the upper front cover. Light chipping and tearing along the extremities, heavier at the head of the spine. Upper corner bumped and curled, with some creasing to the pages. Interior clean and solid with light toning to the paper. Good .
