Ledyard cites a lengthy passage from Champlain's journal that describes central New York and what he discovered there, as well as examining the efforts by a General Clark of Auburn in locating the fort. The author precedes this account with a rather prejudicial look at Native Americans as a race, pondering their abilities to carry out complex efforts in construction, etc. GOOD condition. Several horizontal and vertical fold creases present. Several small wrinkles and other creases present. Faint small area of staining to the lower front cover. Light toning.
