A memoir recounting the early American family history of the Lucy Harris Tufts' ancestors, starting with Richard the Tory, who was a friend of William Penn. Tufts, through anecdotes told to her by her grandmother, recounts her family's life during and after the American Revolution, including the loss of family land and exile of her great-grandfather. Anecdotes of fencing with George Washington are recalled, as well as her great-grandfather's presence at the burial of General Braddock and mention of many other notable Americans during the time of the Revolution. Tufts also recounts her life growing up, as well as the bitterness felt by her family for the mistreatment faced by them at the end of the American Revolution. In GOOD condition. Faint foxing and minor staining present to the covers. Mostly minor scuffing and general fading to the cloth. Minor soiling. Minor edgewear. Spine sunned with some foxing and spotting. Interior solid with general browning to the pages and minor scattered soiling. Previous owner's signature present on the first endpaper. Good/No Jacket.
