Engraved and printed by Raphael Tuck and Sons. London: 1912. Printed on handmade paper. 12 stamps/bookplates issued by the above mentioned committee to raise funds for Dickens' descendants. The committee included Ambrose Bierce, Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan, Theodore Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and many other notable figures. A single sheet of imperforated stamps, in VERY GOOD condition. All borders present, with slight unevenness to the left side, believed as issued. Minor browning along the extremities. Minor soiling. The entire block is slightly off-center within the borders. The original envelope in which these came is also present and is in poor condition with moderate to heavy chipping along the upper extremity. Several tears present to the envelope. Area of glue residue/staining present on the center front, with some of the outer surface of paper scuffed away. Moderate darkening to the envelope. This envelope has printed on it the list of members of this committee, as well as a brief blurb about it and the sheet. Very Good .
