Last report for the first (of three) gold rush in Nova Scotia which began in 1861 and lasted until 1874. However, poor mining methods, bad management and incompetency led to the decline in production in the early 1870s. By 1874, the output had dwindled to 9,140 ounces (259 119 g)".
