Done from the Original Publish'd in 1744," an uncommon map based on Bellin's important map of the region done in 1744. It began modestly as a digest of London newspapers and periodicals for country customers (an orientation signaled in Cave's editorial pseudonym, Sylvanus Urban), but it went on to prosper and survive until 1922." A fair/poor reading copy ex-lib copy with pocket on front pastedown; detached boards, text block and spine split, spine and boards chipped and scuffed, paper label title on spine taped to title volume title page, detached free front and rear end-papers and frontis plate; one folding map creased at fold and soiled at edge, otherwise contents are good and complete with all plates, minimal toning. The Map of New England in very good condition with a few creases ,a tiny chip, and tiny tears at the lower inner margin.
