Main and McMillan, owners of the steamer George Barnard for the Chamber of Commerce of the city of New York to study once again the use of steamers on the canals. Last studied in 1858, it was felt that the boats were inappropriate due to a lesser carrying capacity and the wash from the boats which eroded the banks. Main and McMillan stated that they had solved the problems and thus asked the chapter to appoint an Examining Committee. Not in OCLC. A very good+ copy with a mail fold.
