A nearly complete run which contains the complete five issues of volume I, the complete four issues of Volume II, the first issue of Volume III, and the complete 4 issues of volume IV. The first issue left it to the readers to name the magazine in a "Name Your Magazine Prize Contest." The next four issues were called "The Echo: The Magazine of the Hudson Valley," but beginning with vol. II, No. 1 in 1939, the name was changed to "The Hudson River Magazine." Articles about: Teviotdale, Civil Service, Beekman Arms (Rhinebeck), Woodstock, Berkshire Symphonic Festival (Tangelwood), Frederick Goudy, Albany, General Worth Hotel, Fishing Industry, the artist David Lithgow (with a cover), Fort Crailo, Amos Easton, Lindenwald, Vassar, Lowell Thomas, Barging the Hudson, Warner's Tavern, Hudson River, Antirent Wars, Kingston, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and much more including fiction poetry, advertisements, and local notices. Scarce. A very good set overall: first issue with stain to front wrapper and to inner margin of leaves but not affecting the text; two small chips to cover of second issue, occasional soiling, a few issues with mailing labels, leaves clean and crisp.
