Collation, xxxvii, [1],526pp, 106pp, [ appendix, index, ], 554pp, 73pp, [ appendix, index,], 619pp, 52pp, 1pp , [index], complete with 54 maps/plates, of which 3 are hand coloured. Bound in period or early half calf, calf corners, cloth boards, raised bands, gilt lines, top gilt edges, marble endpapers. At some time, [ not recently ], these volumes have been rebacked, retaining the original spines. Calf rubbed/scuffed, hinge joints worn, crack on volume one, joints are tender, but all holding. Generally bindings in good condition. Internally, pages and plates clean throughout. A nice set, in worn but attractive bindings.
