Ivan Bilibin, Russian illustrator and stage designer, is famous for his illustrations of Russian fairy tales. He was a member of the Mir iskusstva (World of Art), contributed to the Ballets Russes, and member of the Artists' Union of the USSR. This work about the mythic hero Volga is one of the most beautifully designed and printed publications of the Silver Age. The stunning plates demonstrate Bilibin's deep knowledge of Russian and Ukranian folk art.
