Description: . Pp. 71, (1). Woodcut vignette on title. Text in Danish. Some staining to the text. Later half calf on marbled paper boards. Spine decorated in gilt with green title label, minor damage to top of spine. Old receipt from Gyldendalske Boghandel (Copenhagen) pasted in at rear. Exceedingly rare poem with a description of the Sami people in Tr¿ndelag and Nordland (Norway). It is attributed to Petter Dass but the first edition (Copenhagen 1740) was issued anonymously by Hans Friis, a Norwegian priest and poet. He had become acquainted with the Seminarium Lapponicum, a school for the training of missionaries and teachers to serve in the Sami settlement. However, the style is reminiscent of Dass' work "Nordlands trompet". Here is the second, much improved edition according to the title. From his adolescence in Trondheim, he had become familiar with the Seminarium Lapponicum, a school for the education of missionaries and teachers to serve in the Sami settlement. He is known for his cycle of poems, De norske Findlappers Beskrivelse which was first published in Copenhagen in 1740. These provide a description of the way of life of the Sami people in Tr¿ndelag and Nordland.[2]Ovanlig. Enligt Finska Nationalbiblioteket tryckt 1803-08. (tillskrivet namn)[2et] Andet, meget forbedrede OplagPublicerad: Kj¿benhavn : Joh.
