[28] unnumbered pages, illustrated with Gustav Verbeek's cartoons from 1903. The corners of several pages are bumped. The book has a slight musty odor. Very good. First edition in book form, second printing. Laid in are 2 matching leaves with reviews and quotes from newspapers praising the book. From the library of Woodstock artist John McClellan, signed and dated by him on the verso of the front cover. Born in London to American parents, John Ward McClellan (1908-1986) attended Yale University and the School of the Boston Museum before attending the Academie Julien in Paris. He settled in Woodstock, New York and was recognized not only as a sculptor, painter and printmaker but also as a mathematician and entymologist. His prints are in the collections of the Whitney Museum, the New York Public Library and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Very good .
