First edition.
With a foreword by Kenneth Stuart, Art Editor of the Saturday Evening Post.
A nice association copy inscribed by Ashley Halsey, Jr. to Ben Hibbs on the front endpaper: "To Ben Hibbs, with highest regards. This carries me from history to illustrating; I solemnly promise never to do a comic book. / Ash Halsey/ 3/23/51". Ashley Halsey was associate editor of the Saturday Evening Post. He later became editor of "The Amercan Rifleman", the NRA's publication. Ben Hibbs [1901 -1975] began writing for the Saturday Evening post in 1942. In 1962, his last year at the Post, he served as Senior Editor and worked with General Eisenhower on articles he had contracted to write for the magazine after his presidency ended. Hibbs joined the editorial staff of Reader's Digest in 1963.
On both pastedowns are "Saturday Evening Post Library" stamps and there is a handwritten library numeral on the spine. On the front endpaper is an "Editorial Research Library The Curtis Publishing House" stamp. Curtis held the copyright for some of the material in the book. Good .
