Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Title page for the whole volume, Old and New Testaments, gives publication date of 1718 but title page for New Testament reads "The New Testament of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Newly Translated out of the Original Greek: and With the Former Translations Diligently Compared and Revised. By His Majesty's Special Command. Appointed to be Read in Churches. Oxford, Printed by John Baskett, Printer to the University, MDCC XIX". Includes Apocrypha. Not paginated. Contemporary panelled calf binding with bands on spine and rubbed gilt lettering which has read "The Holy Bible "blind decoration and with blind decoration on the front and rear covers. The surface of the spine is cracked and the head is pulled, the covers are rubbed with wear and bumping on the corners. Block edges are dulled gilt. There are coloured decorated paste-downs on the inner covers but not matching end-papers, it may be that the volume has been recased very neatly. There are no pages present before The Old Testament title-page. There are two plain leaves between the last page and rear cover, the first of these has brief hand-written notes in ink that do not appear to relate to the bible. The pages are darkened, the page edges of the apocrypha have been trimmed. The title-page and last page of the Old Testament, the title-page and last page of the New Testament are stamped "A. Brown" in ink. Pencil sketches are on the reverse of the last page of the Apocrypha and the reverse of the rear first plain end-paper. The last six leaves have a short crease across the lower corner.
