F.G.S. Geographer at Edinburgh in Ordinary to Her Majesty, Honorary Memeber of the Geographical Society Berlin, F.G.S Paris, Editor of the National Atlas &c. Based on the Physikalischer Atlas of Professor H. Berghaus et. al." Published in 1848 by William Blackwood & Sons of Edinburgh and London. Map sheet is entitled "The River Systems of America" and has three inset maps; "Sketch of the Niagara River showing the position of the Falls", "Delta of the Mississippi" and "Map of the Bifurcation of the Orinoco". Sheet has a vertical centre fold and North and South America are positioned side by side either side of the fold. Black and white engraving with colour lines and wash. Edges are slightly darkened with some minor bumps. Lower margin of map reads "Edinburgh, John Johnstone W & A K Johnston and Cowan & Co. - Glasgow, James Lumsden & Son". Accompanying sheet is filled with text and tables on both sides and is also in very good condition. Size: 55x67cm. Item Type: Map. Single sheet map/chart which is suitable for framing.
