Map sheet is entitled "The River Systems of Asia & Europe, Showing the Boundaries and comparative extent of The River Basins and the Sea to which they contribute" and has a vertical centre fold. Inset graph shows "Comparative View of the Fall of the Rivers Volga, Ganges, Danube, Elbe, Rhine, Rhone & Clyde with the positions of some of the most remarkable Lakes". Black and white engraving with colour wash and lines. Faint transfer of image from facing page in some areas. Edges are slightly darkened. Lower margin of map reads "Edinburgh, John Johnstone W & A K Johnston and Cowan & Co. - Glasgow, James Lumsden & Son".
