1954 African American Photo Album of Occupied Japan W/ a Lot of Golf

0. Hardcover. Photographic Image, This 9" X 12" 1954 photo album contains 40 photos, including Japanese golf, a few geisha portraits & landscapes, and some family. Also 25 Japanese postcards. Most photos are attached to the pages with corner mounts, and identifying information is handwritten behind each photo. Many of the photos are of African American soldiers and their families. The covers and the album pages are all securely attached. Very Good.

0. Hardcover, Folio - over 12. Photographic Image, The photographer, named on several document in the album, was assigned to the Naval Air Station in Kenitra, Morocco. Almost the entirety of the photographs have some descriptive information on the back. The lot consists of 220+ photos, approx. 22 snaps are damaged. Photographs are, overall, exceptionally well composed. There are also post cards and fliers and lots of cool ephemera. Images include - Belly dancing Snake Charmer Street people Morocco Bullfighting Street scenes Naval base scenes Gay interest snaps +++ The album is a bit musty & the covers show old mildew residue. 1980s - a Coast Guardsman's Tour & Sudden Death

0. Hardcover. Photographic Image, A Coast Guardsman's Charmed Life - Beginning 1982 when Lt. J.G. Andrew N. Czapowskyj graduates from the Coast Guard Academy- to.. 1986 when the album ends. The albums are in pristine condition. 'Picture perfect' describes the peacetime enlistment that Andy led - voyages to Arctic waters & Bermuda Ports of Call. Colorado & Arizona- climbing, skiing, and camping. Beaches, parties and banquets. Profusely written 'Thank You' letters from superiors and civilian organizations. Golf, baseball, horse racing, and still more parties. Drug smuggling sea chases, helicopters, and ocean rescues. The album ends in early 1986. And the Lieutenant's idyllic tour of 'duty' rolls on beyond the albums. In 1987 while still Skipper of the CG Cutter Point Evans, he was included in the production of a the film 'Overboard' with Kurt Russell & Goldie Hawn. The Andrew N. Czapowskyj story ends in 1989 when Andrew Czapowskyj unexpectedly was killed. We received an email from Charlie----, a longtime pal of Andrew's. He writes that ".. I have a tattered copy of his obit filed away somewheres. Andy crossed over into eternity in June of 1989 in the heart of Africa. He was a victim an aircraft accident while out on a safari in either Tanzania or Kenya. Yeah, that was my friend, classmate, and brother-in-arms, Andy. This [photo album] seems to be quite a tribute to the legacy, perhaps even legend, that he was. It is written that on his deathbed, Marco Polo was urged to confess his sins, disavow his stories of the Far East, as they could only be lies. Marco Polo responded "I did not tell half of what I saw, for I knew I would not be believed". Were he still among us, I'm sure that Andy would say the same. Best regards, Charlie" Attached with the album images is a screen grab of a letter Andy wrote to his pals from Bishop Hoban HS- Wilkes-Barre, PA. He's writing from Africa just before suddenly losing his life in an airplane accident. The letter is dated 30 June 1989. Albums (a) approx 12.5 x 17 inches with 195 photos + letters & clippings. (b) approx. 11 x 11.5 inches with 250 photos. Excellent collectible condition. Very Good.

2nd Sino-Japanese War Vintage Photo Album 60+ Snapshots

0. Hardcover. Photographic Image, Vintage snapshot photo album c1939, Sino-Japanese war. Most of the photos are approximately 1.75" by 2.5". A few are larger. There are 60+ photos of the war zone, and also several family photos interspersed within the album. Photos of bombed buildings and bridges. Snaps of military activity - cars and trucks, men in uniform, street and crowd scenes, etc. Please see the examples of the pages in the photos I took of the album included here. There are numerous pages in the album that are unused. The album measures about 6.75"x9.75", with brown faux leather covers. The front cover has an embossed scene of 2 soldiers in a trench - one with a machine gun and the other using periscope binoculars. The covers show some wear. Pages all bound securely. All the photos are glued down, save one. It also appears that several snapshots were removed or fell out. Good.
