He was a director of the South Sea Company and became a High Sheriff of Leicestershire in 1783.

[xvi], [138] pp.Nicely produced and finely illustrated first and only edition of a choice selection of fables from Ovid's Metamorphoses, translated into Swedish by Jacob Reenstierna, the first published Swedish translation of any of Ovid’s writings. Basel {Switzerland], Henricum Petri 1556 date taken from colophon Engraved titlepage surround with cherubs climbing, blowing pulling etc dated 1523 & possible monogram G & backwards C? . 148x98mm rolled pig with two intact clasps the figures show resurrection, crucifixion, heads of saints with stylized central double trellis, spine on three raised bands on wooden boards slight damage to head of spine/some marks. [40 pp includes titlepage, life of Ovid,+index] +589pp + colophon with date. Front free endpaper and both rear endpapers are newer. Shelf mark To paastedown as well as small shield + indecipherable line of writing + titlepage with name Carmeli Scondrini. Some browning and damp-staining along the top of the pages varying from marginal to affecting some part of the first few lines but text aways still entirely readable. Page 364 has and ink spill affecting part of up to 3 words of nine lines, also still readable. There is some old underlining and here and there neat old marginal annotations or numberings mainly in the first part of Bk I. In addition there are printed side notes.The text in the fifteen books is in an italic font followed by 72 pages of Annotations mainly by Longoli.The last leaf has a longitudinal crease and two small edge chips and these last few pages are rather more tanned
