[19] pp. Gilt stamped paper covered boards, accordion fold-out style in gift box, printed bottom and acetate top, shrink-wrapped. During the period 1885-1895, before the advent of the automobile and of picture postcards, there was a style of souvenir view book, which used a combination of stone lithography, photography and artisanship to produce a distinctive style that has not been duplicated. The Circa 1890 series of view books has given a new life to this style of souvenir volumes, transforming them into gift items that are beautifully printed, bound and packaged. The production of this project has been taking place for the past several years and the first two view books in the series are being released in early 2013. They are view books of Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, California. These will be followed by other North American cities. These are ideal products for museum gift shops, easy to display with their string covers, boxed in acetate and printed boards and shrink wrapped. New. .

Colas, Bibliographie Générale Du Costume (1933; repr.), no.148, col. 49-50...The frontispiece portrait of Arif Pacha is signed in the plate, 'Julien.M. Lith.' The numbered plates are all signed in the plate 'AS' (or 'AD'?), apart from pl. 5, which is signed 'AP' and pl. 3, and 10, which are unsigned.. The frontispiece and each numbered plate carry the imprint of Lemercier.. No publication-date is given on the title-page. In the Préface the author states, 'J'ai entrepris, l'an 1279 .. (1863 ..) la publication des Volumes I, II et III, en donnant pour titre à mon livre: Medjmouaï teçavir (collection de costumes) .. L'ouvrage complet se composera de douze volumes ..'. Lipperheide states that no more were published. According to Colas, the work was also published in Turkish. The text, 'Origine De L'Empire Ottoman', is a brief chronological description of the costumes shown in the plates, where they are assigned numbers keying them to this survey. Each plate is captioned in Turkish and French. They show public officers of the Turkish state, before the suppression of the Janissaries in 1826 by Sultan Mahmud II... Ouvrage comprenant le portrait-frontispice de l'auteur lithographié en noir, 45/47 pages de texte en français (Biographie de l'auteur, Préface, Origine de l'empire Ottoman et description des planches), 16 pages de texte en turc, et 16 planches h.t. lithographiées et coloriées, d'après Arif-Pacha, représentant 80 personnages en costumes. Le texte apporte quelques indications historiques sur les personnages représentés et décrit pour chaque figure son costume, témoin précis de sa fonction publique. L'ouvrage ici présent réunit donc les éditions française et turque parues la même année avec le même nombre de planches mais un nombre de pages de texte différent. Manque le titre.
