KINGSTON, WILLIAM H.G [KATE GREENAWAY FRONTISP.],
Infant Amusements;
0. 1867. or, how to make a Nursery Happy. With practical hints to parents and nurses on the moral and physical traing of children. London: Griffith and Farran, 1867; xviii, 183pp. [32pp. catal.] with frontis. and other illustrations, and some musical notation; publisher's brick-red cloth, decorated in gilt and black; extremities partly worn, very slight rubbing & short split (c.5mm.) at head of spine, early ownership entry on fr.f.e.p. Of great interest in itself as an early practical guide in the field of what would now be classified as kindergarten and pre-school education - drawing heavily on German sources - by an author better remembered for his children's stories, this volume is now mostly sought after because its frontispiece is Kate Greenaway's first published book illustration. Rare.
