BISHOP, ELIZABETH
North & South
Boston, Houghton Mifflin Company. 1946, First Edition. Cloth. Book, 8vo. [viii] 54 pp. Blue cloth with silver lettering and decorative vignettes to front board and spine. Pictorial dustjacket unclipped ($2.00). Elizabeth Bishop's debut work of poetry containing thirty poems, which (with the addition of the "Cold Spring" poems) won her the Pulitzer in 1955. A seminal collection, limited to only 1,000 first edition copies, which has influenced numerous poets and contains some of her most memorable poems. Shows the usual shelf-wear common with this susceptible jacket, with a little chipping and closed tears. Internally superb, as is the poetry. Fine/Very Good.
