Zeitz, Friedrich R.
Catalogue of Australian Lizards
Adelaide: G. Hassell and Son, 1920. First edition. Pp. 181-228. Publisher's original gray printed wrappers, sm 4to. From the journal: Records of the South Australian Museum, volume 1, no. 3 (June 20, 1920). This is the author's most extensive work on reptiles. It is based on lizards collected on various expeditions into the interior of Australia. This important monograph lists 267 species of lizards grouped into 45 genera; however, this is only a small proportion of the diversity known to inhabit the continent today (after Adler, volume 3, p. 166). From the library of the great Australian herpetologist, Edgar R. Waite, with his name stamp signature on the front wrapper. The work also bears the small name stamp of herpetologist Kraig K. Adler also on the front wrapper. This is a very rare early Australian herpetological monograph with interesting associations. Light edge wear to the wrappers, faint crease to bottom outer corner of the front wrapper; a bright and clean copy in very good condition..
