Spine slightly crooked, tanned, and edgeworn, with two closed horizontal tears near the top. Head of spine lightly chipped. Corners bumped and rubbed. Cloth lightly stained. 5 newspaper clippings pasted inside; 3 on the front and back free endpapers and 2 in the text. Pen mark on p. xxii. Otherwise unmarked and tight. The English author's acclaimed letters to her husband detailing her observances of Egyptian culture and customs. She spent the last years of her life in Egypt and was well respected among the natives. Also contains a memoir by the author's daughter, "Mrs. Ross. .

The book is tight and unmarked; faint, barely noticible waterstain to the outer margin of the first few leaves else clean and bright. IN THE RARE JACKET which is rather worn but mostly complete. The jacket lacks the top two inches of its spine; it is separated at the folds and has some interior tape repair. The jacket is currently in a protective mylar cover which improves its curb appeal tremendously. A history of the polar explorations in the author's era. Greely was a distinguished US Army general and polar explorer; he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his lifetime achievements. Very good .
