Includes 28 hardcover books, nine paperback books, 11 digests, three drafts for unpublished anthologies, and the unpublished first draft of The Dragon Lord. All items are inscribed, the vast majority with interesting notes such as ADidn=t the nice folks at Putnam do a first rate job of production?@, AI=m happy with how this worked out@, AStill my favorite novel@, Amy best work to date@, and so forth. This collection includes 22 hardcover first editions and two paperback first editions entirely by Drake; four hardcover first editions and five paperback editions of works co-written by Drake; two hardcover and two paperback anthologies which include Drake=s stories; eleven science fiction digests which include Drake stories; typescripts for three proposed anthologies of Drake=s stories to be published by The Vainglory Press (none of which ever came to fruition); the first draft of the typescript for his second novel, The Dragon Lord; miscellaneous promotional material from his publisher. All works are inscribed from Drake to his long-time friend John D. Squires. Squires, Drake, and Karl Edward Wagner were friends in the early 1970s when Drake=s writing career was beginning. The pair stayed in touch over the years until Squires= recent passing. Squires ran his own small press (The Vainglory Press) and was one of the world=s leading authorities on the works of fantasy author M.P. Shiel. .

The jacket has mild shelfwear to include tiny 1/8-inch chips along the lower edge of the front panel and the loss of the top 1/4-inch of the jacket's spine. The canary yellow back panel shows a modest amount of general dirt picked up from normal usage over the decades. An uncommon Durrell work, difficult to find in any semi-decent dustjacket. .

The Dec. 12, 1968 issue. 12-page newspaper, folded neatly in half as issued, very good to fine condition. Unmarked, without any chips or tears. Normal age toning to newsprint. Larry Flynt started his business empire in Dayton, Ohio in 1965 with a single bar. He met with success and started expanding in 1968. opening the first Hustler Club in Dayton and issuing the Dayton edition of Bachelor's Beat (a national publication which sold franchises to individual cities). Flynt was president of the corporation while his brother was listed as editor/publisher. Larry ran the Bachelor's Beat for two years before selling it. He apparently used the experience to launch the Hustler Newsletter, a newspaper about his Hustler Club chain - in 1974, the newsletter morphed into the infamous Hustler Magazine. The first issue of Bachelor's Beat features a story about Flynt on page One along with a photo. A rare piece of ephemera, important as the genesis of a publishing empire which played a major role in the modern history of the Sexual Revolution. .

Ex-libris from St. Charles College, a Maryland seminary which closed in 1969. Poor condition but the interior is complete and readable and the binding is still tight. THE RARE FIRST EDITION OF GALLITZIN'S MOST FAMOUS WORK. Published in Pittsburgh in 1816, the work would go to be published in larger cities over the decades and widely spread as an apologetical work. Prince Demetrius Gallitzin was a Catholic priest of Russian ancestry who wrote many tracts in defense of Catholicism. A member of the Russian aristocracy, he gave up his inheritance to work as a priest in the United States. Gallitzin became known as the "Apostle of the Alleghenies" and was instrumental in establishing the Catholic Church in Western Pennsylvania. He is now a candidate for sainthood and has been declared a Servant of God. This book was his first work and is today rare. Shaw 37730. Parsons 524. .
