Anvers, H. Aarssens (= Amsterdam, Carel Allard, 1708). Etching on paper. Good condition. Pasted on thick paper. 296x190 mm. Rare. Cartoon about the famine of the French side during the siege of Rijssel (Lille) in 1708. A French soldier is chopping up a horse for food. In the background the French commanders are dining with horse meat. Text in Dutch and French. This print is prat of the series Het Palmhof der Bondgenooten, consisting of 9 cartoons, unnumbered, about the French side during the year 1708 in de Spanish War.
