The cover has wear about edges and corners. The faces of the cover are marked, worn, scuffed. They are muscular and sure. The spine has been repaired and is sturdy and tight. Inside, the early and later pages are foxed. The frontispages have been removed. A folded, colour chart of "Typical venomous snakes of South Africa" is tidy, vivid, tight. The front page has a previous owner signature and gift inscription. Inside, the contents are clear, bright, diligent and competent. A classic of its kind. fk. Poor/No Jacket.

Signed by Vivian FitzSimons (the son of the legendary F W Fitzsimons who founded the Snake Park in Port Elizabeth among other achievements) on the title page. A most satisfying copy. The boards are sound. The back board has residue from the dustjacket (?). Otherwise, the boards are handsome, healthy. The contents are most pleasing throughout. They are very clean, very clear, very well ordered, neat, tidy, diligent, assiduous - as if almost new throughout! A press cutting has been affixed to the front pastedown. The papertrims have sparse storage marks. The early pages have some storage wear about the edges, some foxing. The frontispiece has been repaired along its length. The contents pages have some very tidy underlining in pencil.
