der was quite unique in winning much favour from Brit and Boer. His career swept through South Africa from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth, to Pretoria. This copy is resolutely gentle. The boards are much worn, marked, scuffed from handling and storage. The gilt decoration and tilting is stoic. The decorated end papers have some wear.
