Flora of South Africa - 28 Colour Plates
1915?. with dust jacket. Ill.: Thwaits, F ; Dixie, E ; McManus, P. 28 loose engraved colour plates for Marloth's Flora of South Africa. All are of Vol. IV (pub. 1915). A number of plates were either printed and/or distributed separately from the book either by design or necessity or accident. Please note that this bundle is not a sequential set. It is rather a haphazard collection (with some duplicates). Included are two of the infamous plate No. 59 which was mistakenly missed out of the first edition of Volume IV. This was later distributed separately for inclusion. All the plates have some evidence of age about the rims and edges. The coloured illustrations though are bright, vivid, careful, entrancing, fresh. All are suitable for framing. All are wonderful to look at. All are healthy and keen for display! fk. Very Good/No Jacket.
