Cries of Cape Town - Prints

There are three separate sets: 1: Cries of Cape Town is the titular set - 4 prints; 2: Historical Cape of Good Hope (1972) - 4 prints; 3: views of Cape Town from an unknown series (nd) - 2 prints. Set 1: "Snoek Seller in Hanover St, District Six: Vars Snoek!", "Argus vender at entrance to the Avenue, and the old Supreme Court: Argee! Argee!", "Herb seller on Grand Parade, in front of the City Hall: Knoflok en Salie", "The belal call from the minaret of the Chiappini Street mosque: Allahu Akbar". All prints are hand-numbered 46 of a limited edition of 850 prints. Each are signed, in pencil, by Hall. The prints are in amiable condition. They have some few spots of foxing about the edges, there is some evidence of handling about the edges. However, the colours are fresh, clean. The prints are most suitable for framing. 2nd Set: "The Fairest Cape", "The Castle, Cape Town", "Groot Constantia", "Kirstenbosch, Cape of Good Hope". All are illustrated, decoratively bordered. Calligraphic text on each. Each have hand-painted gilt, and other hand-coloured designs. Each are hand-numbered 10 of a limited edition of 250 prints, on the rear of the prints. They are signed by Hall. Dated: October, 1972. Whilst each have evidence of handling and ownership, they are eager to be framed and cared for. The colours are vivid, luxe, generous. The text is clear, confident and attractive. 3rd Set: "Adderley Street from Van Riebeeck's Statue", "Table Mountain from Blaauwberg". Each are numbered 14 of a limited edition of 150 prints. Each are signed by Hall. The prints have some light corner wear. Otherwise, they are placid, pleasing, benevolent, genteel, most suitable for framing and ownership. The prints homed in a card folder that was produced for "Cries of Cape Town" (healthy and sound and sure). A most agreeable collection. fk. Very Good/No Jacket. Signed.
