' This is the first abridged edition, published in the same year as the five volume first edition. Small octavo in original full leather. Head and tail have worn away. Leather spine title is missing, five raised headbands much worn. Spine and inner hinge repaired with nepalese papers, but still fragile. Corners of boards and edges much worn. Contemporary ink name to feps. Contents foxed throughout, occasional sooty marks. Erased pencil marks to rear ep. Two closed tears repaired. Good. 387pp 0. Good.
