Sporadic foxing to contents, a little heavier to title page. A few short margin tears and original marbled edges darkened with age. Overall a very well preserved example. Illustrator: Careme. Original cloth boards with dulled gilt title to spine. Spine slightly shaken and some damage to ends of spine but still very secure. Inner hinge reinforced. 48 coloured plates by A H Sands and about 250 illustrations in the text. A little damage to title page where some of the finish has been removed, not affecting title. The names of dishes are given in French and in most cases the English equivalent is given, when a translation does not exist the original titles are left in French, essentially the language of cuisine.
