JANSSONIUM, JOANNES
Accuratissima Orbis Antiqui Delineatio Sive Geographica Vetus Sacra and Profana
Amsterdam, Joannem Janssonium. 1652. Half Leather Paper Covered Boa, Elephant Folio. Disbound, boards are extant and original in bind. Presumed horsehair bind, perhaops strung as this would explain loss of spine and damage to edges. Quarter leather remaining, originally half. Free from ink inscrips aside ink pagination marks to contents page. It is worth noting here that the ink pagination review does not correlate with our own review. Small ink mark to titlepage date. Map and PP have retained ink clarity and bear no markings aside some light foxing, spotting and damp marks. PP and plates disbound, would benefit immeasurably by professional rebind and restoration, and our price is reflected by this. A few small period ink marks to head of some PP noting pagination. Some edges of PP torn, but complete. C/E deckled, ruffled by usage, tanned and sporadically affected by light damp markings. No biopredation or severe damage, a generally clean but disbound edition. Please ask for scans or images, an extremely scarce and important book of maps. Poor Plus/No Jacket.
