About the settlers from various well established families partly informed by society gossip, and partly by research conducted by Griffiths in Sydney's Mitchell Library. Covers districts ranging from Watson's Bay to Hunter's Hill including Pott's Point, Elizabeth Bay, Darling Point, Woolahra, Double Bay etc. Written in a chatty informative way with much detail on the architecture and architects involved, as well as family history and friendly relationships with in society that would be of much interest to genealogical research. CONDITION Map eps, tipped in colour frontis illus, 203 pages with numerous illus plate and photo's, copy is crisp and bright with tidy name inside front, associated pamphlets and neatly clipped DJ flaps inserted, very light toned at ends, cloth is very clean with only a tiny nick to front bd near lower spine edge. Written while he was in Cairo working for the Ministry of Information during the war. Richards was interested in the unversality of domectic architecture with the modernist movement. It is illus by John Piper war artist noted for his depictions of bomb damaged buildings. CONDITION Brown bds with bright gilt title (clean and unworn, cnrs a little curved) 86 pages with 8 illus plates. Copy is bright and crisp as new. Appears it was an office file copy with signs of pocket and slip removal from rear, number stamps to rear free end page, and cnr clipped at top of front end page and following half title page otherwise appear unread. Original DJ has wear with small loss at spine ends and tips, short tear top front and damp stain at bottom rear edge. Very Good/Very Good.
