This copy was supplemented in Antwerp and signed by Pietro Proli (!) on april 28th 1767. Also signed by the widow Adrien Vleeshouwer who participated in the financing. The ships '' Adolphe Frédéric '' with captain Livino Olbers and the '' Louise Ubrique '' with captain Mathias Olmer are leaving Cadiz for Canton to return to Göteborg. Dewulf, Ghijselen, Morel & Cie insure this undertaking for an amount of 30400 guilder. (18th c. insurance policy for two ships of the Swedish East India Company participating in the China trade. Provenance; from the archives of Charles de Proli ; photostat of a typed letter from 23 May 1945 refers to Theophile Smekens who was still occupied with Proli's bancruptcy in the late 19th c. Softcover, bound in stapled white wrappers titled and illustrated in black on the front cover. The covers are soiled and creased with a short slit to the head of the spine. 25 pages printed on glossy paper, with textual illustrations and full-page diagrams and maps. Very good. Sometimes known locally as Black Friday, the September 21, 1951 explosion of natural gas in a vault housing gas regulators in the Meadowbrook neighborhood of Brighton, NY claimed the lives of two children and an adult while totally destroying 15 homes, seriously damaging another 16 and causing damage to another 23 homes in this Rochester, NY suburb. Another 38 people were injured. It is believed that a flare lit by workers repairing the sidewalk near the vault touched off a gas leak which, through a series of unexpected consequences, caused a manhole cover to fly off and strike the regulator's mechanism, forcing it fully open. The excessive gas pressure caused pilot lights in nearby homes to shoot up, turned on gas furnaces and released gas into the homes. The resulting explosions flattened and damaged homes across several streets. The report concludes with a list of suggestions and practical changes which should be implemented to avoid further such disasters. Very good .
