Countess Dowager of Seafield, In Memoriam Ian Charles, Eighth Earl of Seafield, Twenty-Seventh Chief of the Clan Grant
Countess Dowager of Seafield
In Memoriam Ian Charles, Eighth Earl of Seafield, Twenty-Seventh Chief of the Clan Grant
Inverness, Northern Chronicle" Office, 1884. Cloth. A memoriam for Ian Charles Ogilvy-Grant, a Scottish nobleman and the twenty-seventh Chief of Clan Grant. A memoriam for Ian Charles Ogilvy-Grant, produced by his mother Caroline Stuart, the Countess Dowager. This work contains a biographical notice, press notices, funeral commentary, pulpit references, tributes, and condolences directed to the family. Ian Charles was the eighth Earl of Seafield and the twenty-seventh Chief of Clan Grant, a Highland Scottish Clan who claim descent from Alpin, father of Kenneth MacAlpin, first King of Scots, though numerous other origin theories exist however, including Norman or Norse emanation. As his parents' only child, his death meant that his mother Caroline Stuart became the sole proprietor of the Seafield Estates. She has been described as "The last of the great feudal chiefs". Rebacked in the original full cloth binding with a contemporary cloth spine. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot and light age toning to the extremities. A contemporary ink inscription to the title page. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
