Ohne Haupttitel, mit der Vorrede Leipzig, im Monat März, 1757 (aus einer zertrennten Ausgabe?). - Christian Fürchtegott Gellert (1715-1769), Schriftsteller u. Moralphilosoph der Aufklärung, Hochschullehrer in Leipzig. Die "Geistlichen Lieder und Oden", zuerst 1757 erschienen, wurden später in Auswahl von Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Joseph Haydn u. Ludwig van Beethoven vertont, andere sind, mit einfacheren Melodien, bis heute in Gesangbüchern enthalten. Seine Werke, besonders seine Fabeln, zählten in der Übergangszeit zwischen Aufklärung, Empfindsamkeit u. Sturm und Drang zu den meistgelesenen in Deutschland. - Ecken u.
