Bazin became professor of law at the Catholic University in Angers. A frequent contributor to Parisian journals, he often wrote of travel and provincial life. His work Une Tache D'encre (A Spot of Ink or the Ink Stain) cemented his reputation as a novelist and earned him an award from the L'Academie Francaise, which he attended in 1904.
