With the first part being a discussion of the priory, manor and castle, derived from William Dugdale's 1730 edition of 'The Antiquities of Warwickshire', followed by a summary of royal visits to Kenilworth, a history of the church, and a survey of Kenilworth castle in 1821.Lacking the half title.A beautifully illustrated study of this historically significant Castle; Kenilworth was the subject of the six-month-long siege of Kenilworth in 1266 - thought to be the longest siege in Medieval English history - and formed a base for Lancastrian operations in the Wars of the Roses. In a half calf binding, with cloth covered boards. Front board detached. Loss of leather to spine tail, with further loss to spine head. Rubbing to rear joint.
