London 1929 36pp, bw ills, additional leaflet loosely inserted. 28x22, stapled card wraps Staples rusted, loose insert creased and rubbed, with some closed tears on folds, contents of main pamphlet very good. The company was founded in 1875, and grew to be a major manufacturer of cables and wiring equipment. There was a brief expansion into the new market for motorcycles in 1907, but this proved unsuccessful and was discontinued two years later. This nicely produced catalogue showed the wide range of buildings that the company's products were being used in, from ordinary homes to country houses, factories and hospitals.

The Van Kannel Automatic Collapsible Panic Proof Revolving Door

New York, nd. c.1900 10pp folded pamphlet, 5 bw photographs, plan. 16x8 folded, 16x43 unfolded, pamphlet. Crease on one corner, three distributors stamps not affecting images, good thus. Theophilus Van Kannel was the inventor of revolving doors, and his company made and sold them until he sold up in 1907. The current owners of the company proudly offer restoration and servicing to doors originally installed by Van Kannel as early as 1888.

At 5 vouchers in every packet, a keen child only had to encourage their parents to smoke 4800 cigarettes and they could be the proud owner of a Triang train set...

Ketton Cement had been started by a group of Sheffield-based businessman some ten years before, and remains one of the largest of the UK's cement producers. The location in Rutland combined clay deposits with easy access to the main line railway, which continues to the present day.

The LIRA was set up by the Government of Northern Ireland in 1920 to carry out research and to promote the industry, which was very signficant to the local economy. It was wound up in 1993 as the industry disappeared, and its archive can know be found in the Lisburn Museum. This exhibition covered everything from breeding experiments for the flax plant through to the many uses of the finished cloth.

The company proudly advertised themselves as "the Church Heating Specialists", and this little catalogue includes photographs of many cathedrals that used their stoves for heating (Ely Cathedral is included - this seller can vouch for the stoves still being there in the 1980s, though personal experience suggested they weren't creating much heat in that era!)

Also includes a separate letter and catalogue from BT Bailey Limited dated 1936; MacKinnon and Bailey are still trading today, with items in their current range with a clear heritage back to those listed here.
