Original cloth, cleverly restored on the spine preserving the original binding> lightly foxed throughout as usual with this title, with some light damp staining to lower inner margins. This innovative educational work covered the first six books of Euclid's elements which were standard fare on the mathematics curriculum of the time. Byrne's innovative approach to the representation of the formulae is now considered a precursor to the graphic modernist experiments from the Bauhaus movement.

A weekly professional periodical with medical cases, results of treatments and surgeries, reports of various professional societies and a multitude of colour and black and white illustrations. It ceased publication after less than two years and is rare in commerce.

GuilliƩ was a pioneer in education for the blind, though a controversial figure who was accused of only promoting policies which made him look good. Nevertheless his manual for activities for the blind was adopted in France at the Royal Institution for the Blind of which he was Director-General and many of his ideas crossed the Channel to be incorporated into British education for the blind. "In Paris, the original of this interesting work, which is calculated to resue from the misery of idleness the most helpless of human beings, was printed at the institution for the Blind, by the blind themselves> thereby serving as a practical illustration of the efficacy and value of the labours of the benevolent Author."
