The adoration of the Shepherds: Mary kneeling on the left with hands joined in prayer, in the center the infant Christ lying on the manger and all around shepherds with animals. Above, two angels flying and hugging each other and another peeping out of the clouds. Copy in same direction from the painting by Hans von Aachen at the Museo Civico in Montepulciano (cat. 64). Other smaller versions of the painting appeared on the market with some modifications. There are also printed versions of these latter specimens. From a Missale Romanum, possibly from the second half of the seventeenth century. Printed in Paris, ca. 1545.The text gives the gospel of the mass for Tuesday after the third Sunday of the 40-day fast, as well as the introit of the Wednesday after. Cropped within platemark, a small wormhole in the center of the sheet, a faint stain in the left edge, a small nick in the top edge, and small glue stains from supports on the verso in the top corners.
