Twelfth engraving from the suite of 12 entitled 'Premičre Suite des Mois de l'Année' with an allegory of the month of December. Wreaths with sausages and salami decorate the frame; the medaillon at the top center contains the zodiacal sign of the Capricorn. A man cooking pigs in the center of the composition while a woman and a man are baking breads on the right. At the bottom on a cartouche: 'Ite sue alio, vos vult enecare December / Ille ferit glebas, vt dulcia semina seruet / Cum pri Regis'. On the bottom right nr.“33“l Engraving on paper, trimmed within platemark; total: 180 x 241 mm. State I/2 before plate numbering. Repaired on the top margin.

Wreaths with jars, sheeps and items for shearing decorate the frame; the medaillon at the top center contains the zodiacal sign of the Cancer. In the foreground women are shearing sheeps and rams under the watch of a shepherd. On the left a woman is milking a cow. To the right a hilly background. At the bottom on a cartouche: 'Iunio mulctra valet butyris, caseoq. recenti / Vellus praebet, ouis, apibusq. aluearia feruent / Cum pri Regis'. Tenth engraving from the suite of 12 entitled 'Premičre Suite des Mois de l'Année' with an allegory of the month of October. Wreaths with grapes and wine decorate the frame; the medaillon at the top center contains the zodiacal sign of the Scorpio. In the central composition men are pressing the grapes to make the wine which is collected in barrels on the right. On the background on the hills men are harvesting grapes. At the bottom on a cartouche: 'Bubus arat terras vel equis, spargitq. vicissim / Triticeas October opes, pia dona columbis / Cum pri Regis'. Count William III passes judgement on the sheriff of South Holland, 1336 [set of seven prints]
The complete scene consists of a large print in the middle (here missing - nr.6) and six prints around it, numbered from 1 to 7. Signed on the first print, below within margin: 'CJVisscher excudebat' (CJV interlaced). The first plate shows the sheriff trying to buy the cow from a farmer: on the right the sheriff with a bag of money and on the left the farmer and his family. In the background the cow being milked by the wife of the farmer. The second plate shows the sheriff leaving with the cow that has been exchanged with another; on the background the family witnesses the scene helplessly. Glorification of Cornelis de Witt: the commander in armour, holding a commandostaf, is represented on the left, being crowned with laurel by flying putti while a Fame is blowing a trumpet. On the background the trip to Chatham (June 1667). On the left also a cornucopia with symbols of the prosperity of land and wealth. This illustration was used in Jan Wagenaar's "Vaderlandsche historie", published in Amsterdam between 1749-1759, in 21 volumes. This pint belongs to vol. XIII, p. 478. The original painting in the town hall of Dordrecht was destroyed in 1672, soon after the horrifying death of the de Witt brothes. Signed lower right corner: "S.Fokke fec"; on the left corner: "A.
