Berlin had been an early front runner in the contest, but their bid was marred by demonstrations on the 18th September. The vote was held on 23rd September 1993 and the the games were awarded to Sydney.

Pete Brown and Piblokto.
Blue Egg Ltd, c. 1970. 685 x 555 mm. old pin holes to the corners. Probably issued as merchandise to be sold at concerts, rather than a concert poster. Pete Brown [1940 - 2023] was a performance poet and lyricist, best known for his association with Cream and Jack Bruce. He collaborated on some of Cream's most iconic songs including "I Feel Free", "White Room," "SWLABR," and "Sunshine of Your Love". Piblokto was active between 1969 and 1971.

Men on the March.
Pipes and Tobacco League, 1915. 1020 x 635 mm. Rare WW1 propaganda poster by Frank Brangwyn [1867 - 1956], a prolific artist, designer and printmaker. Although not an Official War Artist, he produced over 80 poster designs during the war, donating most of them to various charities, this one to the Pipes & Tobacco League established to send tobacco to the men on the front. "A Red Cross worker in France writes to us: "I know now how greatly the Fighters need Tobacco.""

This item may have at some time been mounted and will bear traces on the reverse of adhesive or removal of mounts. The French corrida rarely leads to injuries to the bulls> the skill being in snatching rosettes from their horns. This one still takes place in the old Roman arena in Arles> I attended one in the early 1970s but remember little of it after a convivial dinner earlier in the evening!
