Volume 2 only of this collection of poetry by Abraham Cowley, containing his 'Mistress,' various odes, 'Pindarick Odes,' and 'Anacreonticks.' Abraham Cowley was a 17th century English poet, beginning his career in his teens and becoming one of England's most popular poets. GOOD condition. Exterior hinges starting to crack, but intact and solid. Moderate to heavy scuffing along the extremities. Minor toning. Interior clean and solid, with minor foxing to the first few pages. Previous owner's armorial bookplate on the inside front cover. Good/No Jacket.

A collection of shorter and longer poems by William Cowper, the noted 18th century English poet. With a partial bookplate indicating this was from the library of Benjamin Brown French, a New Hampshire politician who worked served in many administrations in the White House during the mid 1800s. GOOD condition. Moderate general fading to the covers. Some scuffing, heavy along the fore edges. Corners and spine tips worn, with a ½ inch chip of leather missing from the head of volume 1. Leather cracked along the hinges of both volumes, with the covers beginning to loosen. Leather mottled, brittle and flaking, rather heavy, along both spines. Interior solid, with two small bookplates present. General browning to the paper. Scattered foxing, heaviest to the endpapers. Minor scattered soiling. Good/No Jacket.
