This work comprises a collection of ballads and broadsides printed between 1559 and 1597 during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.Containing the bookplate of Norman and Janey Buchan. Janey (1926-2021) was a Scottish Labour Member of the European Parliament for fifteen years; she was an important Glaswegian figure. Norman (1922-1990) was a Labour party politician representing West Renfrewshire between 1964 and 1983 and the Paisley South from 1983 until his death. He penned a work called '101 Scottish Songs' based on his interest in folk music. In the publisher's original full cloth binding.
